Minutes of the Meeting of the Secretariat of Cursillo in the Diocese of Virginia
Present were: David VanEsselstyn, Roger Robillard +, Mark Hopkins, Alice Lees, Ed Schneider, Elaine Kallio and John Symonds.
The group gathered from 9:00 am to 9:40 am. David opened with prayer at 9:45 am followed by grouping. Prayers were offered for those not in attendance and the Cursillo movement in the Diocese of Virginia.
Spiritual Director. Spiritual time with our Spiritual Companion (Roger) began at 11:00 am issuing a challenge: “When did Noah make his Cursillo? And when did Moses make his Cursillo?” The Cursillo experience has been happening in lives for a long time with God!
Minutes. There were no minutes to approve.
Treasurer’s Report. There was no treasurer's report.
Newsletter update - $815 in receipts will be turned over to the treasurer for the last newsletter. Discussion of how the process went continued. We had all heard stories from Cursillistas who had not received the newsletter. We had not used the return postage service so it is not known who did and who did not receive a newsletter. This service will be added to the next newsletter. A spring newsletter will be forthcoming in May or June. Articles are being collected now. It was discussed that a database maintainer is needed and that John Symonds will try to resurrect the copy he has. Alice questioned the frequency of the newsletter. Some discussion followed and the issue was tabled until the April retreat. Communication will be a main discussion point at the retreat.
After further discussion, it was found that many members could not support the April 16th retreat. It was therefore voted to move the next meeting to St. Georges’ with team commissioning and Secretariat discussions to follow on April 30.
Elaine Kallio brought up and discussed team applications. Her concern is that people are being asked to be on team who do not have an application filled out and filed with the team caller or database administrator. This will also be discussed at our April meeting.
The community weekend was discussed. Two people have approached David about facilitating the weekend. A community call will be going out to pass the word. The Secretariat will only be an advisor, this is a community weekend. Outside speakers will be welcomed and some names were given to David.
Our next meeting will be at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg at 9:00 am on April 30, 2005. The meeting was closed in prayer at noon.
