The meeting was held following the Team Commissioning which took place at Aquia Church from 9:30 to 10:40 on Saturday morning. Roger Robillard commissioned each member of the Team for Weekend #128 by name in a very effective service. Present were: Roger Robillard, Mark Hopkins, Dave vanEsselstyn, John Symonds, Connie Smith, Ed Schneider, and Dave Wright. Dave vanEsselstyn opened the meeting with prayer.
Minutes. The minutes of the last meeting had the weekends for 2005 reversed; the correct information is that May 19 – 22 at Camp Easter Seal will be the candidate weekend, and October 13 – 16 at Front Royal will be the Community weekend. The minutes were approved as amended. All agreed that both Leaders’ Grouping and Spiritual Companion time were supplied by the Team Commissioning.
Treasurer’s Report. Dave Wright reported that the Secretariat made the $800.00 deposit on Front Royal. There are some checks yet to come in from this current weekend. The report was unanimously approved. Mark Hopkins reported that the deposit on Camp Easter Seal is already paid because of an error that they made; we overpaid last time we used the facility. This news was gladly received.
Day of Deeper Understanding. Ed Schneider reported that he had been negotiating with a parish to hold the Day two weeks after the weekend but that the Team said that date does not work for them. No further action was reported. There will be a Prayer and Praise service at Olivet at 7:30 p.m. on October 15, the Friday evening of the weekend.
Newsletter. The newsletter is ready to go except for the information about the Diocesan Ultreya/Day of Deeper Understanding.
Rector List. John Symonds distributed the list of eligible rectors for the Spring Weekend next year. Several names were discussed, and choices will be made at the next meeting.
Announcements.
- On Saturday, September 25th, Aquia will hold a pot luck supper and Ultreya.
- The CCD (Commission on Congregational Development) will be having a workshop on the Magnetic Church. This will be held the Friday and Saturday of the week following Easter at Christ Church, Glen Allen.
Next Meeting. The next meeting of the Secretariat will be at 2:30 p.m on Sunday, October 17 in Front Royal, an hour before the Clausura of Weekend #128.
Father Robillard offered closing prayers at 11:40 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
